Description
The Cavana district and its square are one of the most ancient places of the city, a few steps away from the Rive and Piazza Unità d'Italia.
From a place of gambling dens and brothels described by Umberto Saba in his poems, now, after its pedestrianization, it has become one of the most popular and appreciated places by tourists. Its elongated square is transformed into a network of narrow streets that lead up to the castle, the same narrow streets where James Joyce began to write "Ulysses", considered his most representative novel.
