Description

Are we looking for a nice walk 🚲🚶‍♀️🚶 that takes us from the city center 🏙️ to discover the Val Rosandra Nature Reserve? 🌿🏞️
Then the Cottur cycling and walking trail 🚲 is the perfect route for us!
Following the path of the old railway line 🚂 that once connected Trieste to the Kozina station, the trail stretches for 16 km with a gentle incline 📉.
Paved in the first section 🛣️, it then turns into a wide gravel path all the way to Val Rosandra 🪨🌄.

Along the way, we’ll be able to:
✨ reach numerous panoramic viewpoints 🏔️
✨ cross old viaducts 🌉
✨ walk through tunnels carved into the rock 🕳️

It’s a pleasant route 😌 suitable for all seasons 🍂❄️🌸☀️ and all ages 👧🧓!

Recently, the portion of the trail on Slovenian territory 🇸🇮 has been updated 🔄.
Now, after a few hundred meters from entering Slovenia, the path diverges from the original railway track 🚧, ascending toward the village of Mihele 🏘️ and then joining the VIA ALPINA 🥾 towards Mount Kokos (Cucusso) 🗻, which — if followed to the end — leads us all the way to Monaco 🇩🇪!
