Description

The Revoltella Museum is a modern art gallery on the city's waterfront behind Piazza Venezia.

The Museum was the result of a donation by Baron Revoltella, who bequeathed Trieste his entire 19th-century residence, complete with books, furniture and works of art collected over the years. The Baron's history is strongly linked to the city of Trieste and its development. Indeed, the Baron was one of the main promoters of the construction of the Suez Canal, which proved decisive for the trade activities of the port of Trieste and the whole of Europe. Today, the Museum has come to include the adjoining palace, where one of the most important modern art galleries in Italy, which houses works of artists such as Morandi, Fontana, etc, can be found.

In summer, the views from the Museum's terraces, which come alive in the evenings, are a must see....
