Description

Trieste’s Campo Marzio Museum is dedicated entirely to the railway world.

It is the first museum in Italy to be housed inside a real railway station, which was built in 1906 by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Campo Marzio station was indeed the terminus of the Transalpine line that connected the port to the rest of the empire.

Inside, there are relics, models, clothes and everything related to the history of the Istrian-Dalmatian railway. The old locomotives are located on the tracks outside and can be visited.
