Description
The Molo Audace pier is a fully-fledged 246-metre-long walkway over the sea!
As you walk along it, you can admire the old town centre and the San Giusto hill. On a clear day, the sea and the snow-capped peaks of the Alps on the horizon provide a fantastic backdrop to the wonderful Miramare Castle. The pier was given the name Audace in 1918 in honour of the first ship of the Italian Navy to land there; on that occasion, a bronze wind rose was placed on top of it, in memory of the event. The pier is one of the most attractive places in the city and is particularly charming during bora days, but be careful, as gusts can easily exceed 100km/h and the risk of falling into the water below is real (and not very enticing...).
