Description
Today's walk starts from the pretty Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, located in the small village of Slivia. As highlighted in the route description, this circular itinerary can start from either Slivia or Malchina, depending on where you decide to park.
A church with a view Situated on a panoramic terrace, the church offers a view that extends as far as the sea.
According to historical sources, the first mention of the church dates back to 1525, although its construction is probably earlier. It was seriously damaged during the First World War, when the Karst region became one of the most intense theaters of war. Culinary delights and local traditions The village of Slivia can also offer interesting gastronomic proposals in traditional taverns and farmhouses, a perfect way to end a nice walk!
Not to be missed: the Slivia Tower Cave For an experience full of ideas, we recommend visiting the nearby Grotta della Torre di Slivia, a well-kept karst cavity within a private property equipped with guided tours for tourists, to be booked (for more information see the point of interest dedicated).
Leaving the church behind, the route crosses the characteristic streets of Slivia, lined with courtyard houses typical of the Karst. These homes are distinguished by high stone walls and imposing portals, which capture the unique charm of the region and lead to the start of the scenic trail.
