The Muggia Traverse: A Panoramic Trail

🥾🌄 What we are going to see today is part of the route called TRAVERSATA MUGGESANA (MUGGIA TRAVERSE) 🗺️

The Muggia Traverse that we will follow starts from the panoramic Archaeological Park of Old Muggia 🏛️, with its small and well-maintained Basilica dedicated to Saint Mary of the Assumption ⛪ and arrives at the sea, just past the Porto San Rocco marina 🌊, at the PIER T.

Our walk initially winds along a paved path 🛣️ that will take us among the villas of the Muggia settlement, then we will leave the road to enter the Archduke's Forest 🌳, named in honor of Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Habsburg-Lorraine and the lands that were his property.

At a certain point during the descent, we will pass by the Archduke's VILLA 🏰, recently renovated (not open to visitors as it is now private property).

Between glimpses of the magnificent Gulf 📸, following the path marked CAI 1, we will reach the dense forest of Punta Olmi 🌲 composed of oaks, downy oaks, and black pine, which will gradually give way to clearings characterized by typical Mediterranean shrub vegetation 🌿 and the reed bed that we will find at the intersection between "Rio Ronchi" and the sea 🌊.

The journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes ⏱️ to go and the same to return.

Suitable for all ages 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 and pleasant to do in all seasons, both in summer, where the foliage of the woods allows us to "lower" the temperature of the scorching sun ☀️🌳 and in autumn where the typical red of the sumac begins to color the vegetation, giving us atmospheres and shades to enjoy! 🍁🍂
